Spring Fashion

Springtime is officially here! While it still may not feel like it, warmer weather is definitely on the way! This past weekend, it was a beautiful 80 degrees in Charleston so I definitely need to start steering clear of the sweaters and breaking out my new spring favorites.

Image

I would definitely call this a transition season outfit. Throw a sweater or cardigan over a nice bright dress to make any day, whether it be casual or busy, a stylish one. Riding boots can definitely last you into the spring on those colder days to dress up an more casual dress. Also, Jack Rogers or wedges do the job well too. I am also a huge fan of belted dresses. The coral color of this dress is absolutely perfect for spring and the gold jewelry perfectly accessorizes the outfit.

This outfit can be for work, class or even a girls night out or a date! The dark skinny jeans with the cute neutral wedges are a perfect transition into spring. I love the green color of the tank and am always looking for shirts in bright colors like this because they standout and make any outfit look that much better. The Tory Burch earrings are maybe a tad over the top, but any gold earrings would look fabulous with such an outfit. Kate Spade’s earrings are to die for, so check them out! The Tory Burch purse is so cute and the cross body is key to this outfit. I am definitely adding this to my next wishlist. Also, it matches the beautiful orange and gold bracelet perfectly.

This outfit is the perfect spring day outfit. This white top is adorable and I love the neckline and the gold embroidering. So many stores, from American Eagle to the Gap to Bloomingdales have variations of this simple shirt. Plus I love white blouses in the summertime, especially with bright shorts! I love coral, so the chino shorts (from J.Crew!) totally make me think of summer. Gold sandals are a staple in any summer wardrobe. A professional tote bag can be used with any outfit at any time of day-for class, going to lunch, out at night, or even for an interview! I also have a thing for themed charm bracelets, and this gold beach charm bracelet is definitely on my wish list.

Springtime is the best time for new clothes, a new wardrobe, and pairing together old pieces in new ways. Accessorize with bright colors, buy versatile tops that go with everything (shorts, jeans, white pants, skirts), focus on dresses because they make anyone look dressier, and find perfect summer shoes!

St. Patrick’s Day!

As a grandchild of Irish immigrants and being 100% Irish, I LOVE St. Patrick’s Day more than any other day of the year! I grew up outside of New York City with my Irish family so I would always be allowed to skip school on March 17 and head into NYC to march in the big parade! It was always the best time, getting to be with my family and celebrating our heritage and of course finishing the whole day off with a glorious Irish meal of Corned Beef and Cabbage! But, finding green to wear was always troublesome, so here are some of the best St. Patrick’s Day outfit ideas!

Grammy’s Best and Worst Dressed

Here we go again and I know what y’all are thinking, I am so glad that Katie does nothing but endlessly watch awards show red carpets so that I can read about it bright and early Monday morning when I wake up, right?? Sooooo, since I am the designated Monday writer, y’all get lots and lots of awards show recaps! You lucky ducks! Here we go.

Best dressed

Taylor Swift- I loved the dress that she wore despite the fact that her performance gave me a trippy migraine. Do I think she needs to gain ten pounds? Yes. Do I think that she still looked gorge? Yes.

Justin Timberlake-Rarely do I put a guy on this list because normally they all just wear the same boring suit and tie (so punny!) but JT rocked it. He’s so gorge

Sophia Grace and Rosie- This one was a no brainer. No one rocks a pink tutu and princess crowns like these cuties!

Worst dressed

Jennifer Lopez- Three words: tragic, desperate, topknot

Florence Welch- Honey child looked like Reptar, Godzilla, and the Geico Gecko all rolled into one.

Katy Perry- I loved the color of this dress but honestly it was not flattering. And let’s be honest, no one’s looking at the color.

Do you agree with my choices? Disagree? Sound of below!

Valentine’s Day Style

I’ll be honest, Valentine’s Day is not one of my favorite holidays, but I do love hearts on everything. Who doesn’t love pink, red, and heart-covered clothes, shoes, and accessories? And besides that, there is literally candy everywhere you turn, dangerous but also delicious. On that note, I have been browsing around for some really cute stuff with a Valentine’s motif that are perfect for February but are not too overwhelming for every other time of year as well.

Jewelry

C. Wonder Hearts Aflutter Cuff Bracelet- Adorable for any time of year and definitely an eye-catcher!

Kate Spade Be Mine Studs- These studs are the perfect neutral earrings to wear whenever but are even better for Valentine’s Day. They also come in silver and gold!

Sweaters

J. Crew Heartbreaker Sweater- Black and white are big for Spring and this sweater is perfect for these chilly but not freezing days.

J. Crew Factory classic crewneck cardigan in hearts- This is definitely more of a February sweater but I think if you pair it with a neutral shirt and skinny jeans, it could definitely transition into Spring as well.

Heartbreaker sweater

Shoes

C. Wonder Embroidered Heart Velvet Slipper Loafer- These loafers are perfect for Spring and I love that the black and red is neutral enough to wear with any outfit, but still stand out and make a statement.

Forever 21 Metal Heart Flats- I am obsessed with these flats and it is definitely possible that they will be added to my closet ASAP. They come in black, tan, and red, and at under $25 how can you resist?

Dresses

Old Navy Women’s Crepe Dresses in Hearts- This dress is super affordable and perfect to wear out for Valentine’s Day with your special someone or just for hanging out with you best friends.

Topshop Heart Print Skater Dress- So cute for Valentine’s Day or just a night out on the town. Love!

I hope this makes shopping for Valentine’s Day just a little bit easier for everyone. Good luck and let us know what you pick out!

Golden Globes Fashion

I’m not sure if it’s just me, but I am OBSESSED with Awards season. In fact, as I write this, I am sitting on my couch with my lovely roomies watching the Golden Globes and enjoying every second. But, we all know that the best part is the fashion. So on that note, here are my best and worst looks for the night. Feel free to comment with your thoughts as well; I would love to read them! And feel free to agree or disagree because I have no idea what I’m talking about :) .

Best: Honorable mentions to Jennifer Lawrence (cute but weird in the hip area), Kate Hudson (age inappropriate but looked banging), and Amy Poehler and Tina Fey in the show but not on the red carpet

Jennifer Garner- She has three kids and looked amazing in my opinion. The color was gorgeous and the cut was great on her. Plus her hair and makeup always look good on the red carpet. If only she could work on her day to day…

Amanda Seyfried- I thought she looked gorgeous, but I know there were mixed reviews. Her hair and makeup were on point.

Kristen Bell- She rocked that preggo look. I mean she looks amazing and I could only wish to look that good when I’m not pregnant.

Worst: Honorable mentions to Taylor Swift, Lena Dunham, and Jessica Chastain with a big shoutout to whoever altered the top portion of her dress (ahem)

Nicole Kidman- Sorry but this is awful. I mean come on. Even if she was young enough to pull off this super edgy look, the hair just brought it down so much.

Sienna Miller- No words. I had this outfit when I was nine.

Giuliana Rancic- I love you girl and I loved the first dress, but this was tragic. From the weird hair (including the barrette?) to the sleeve cutouts, all wrong.

Thoughts/opinions? Do you agree or disagree? Either way, this is just the beginning of award show season so grab your popcorn and settle in, it’s going to be a long, and fashionable ride.

New Year = New Semester

Its about that time of year! All the holidays are over, you have just spent a relaxing month or so at home, and now its time to get ready to head back to campus! I personally love beginning a new semester. A whole new slew of classes, new and transfer students to befriend, getting back into the swing of clubs and sports, and of course, since its spring semester, beautiful weather to look forward to! Here are some of my new semester essentials!

C. Wonder Pink Nylon Easy Tote

Image

I began class this past Wednesday and have fallen in love with using this amazing C. Wonder tote to carry my books around. It is the perfect size to hold your books and other essentials and is easy enough to throw over your shoulder and be on your way! Plus, my laptop fits in it perfectly! It has convenient pockets to store pens, chapstick and other quick, easy necessities. I got really tired of the traditional backpack last semester and this bag is practical and adorable! Plus, it can really dress up an outfit!

Lilly Pulitzer Planner

Image

Being organized is key to starting out a successful semester! I am completely obsessed with my Lilly planner. It is the perfect size to fit in my purse or bag, and it has enough room to fit in all my assignments, appointments, meetings, phone numbers, and reminders! It really helps me stay organized, especially when running from the library to sorority chapter to Dance Marathon exec meetings! I can easily sort out what needs to be done for when, and time myself throughout the day! It even has room for to-do lists!

Lilly Pulitzer Tumbler

Image

For me, coffee is a must for those early morning classes and while running around campus each day! This cute Lilly tumbler makes carrying my drinks cute and easy! You can put anything in here and it keeps it cold and has a straw for easy access!

iPhone Wristlet

Image

These new iPhone wristlets are all the rage on my campus! They make carrying all your necessities, from money to IDs to credit cards to your iPhone, super easy and convenient by putting it all in one place that fits on your wrist! It doesn’t look bulky at all and the bright, cute colors and the leather make this a fashion staple. This accessory is amazing for going out, because it minimizes your bag drastically, as well as running around each day because you can easily find everything you need! They have so many different styles, colors, and brands of these, but these here have caught my eye!

Good luck to everyone starting your new semester!

XOXO,

Caroline

Football Monday-BCS Edition.

Well, here we are. It’s the last College Football Monday for a while and I for one, am bummed about it. So, to combat this sadness, here are some football themed recipes for The Bachelor BCS Game tomorrow night. (and then the recorded Bachelor after).

1. Buffalo Chicken Dip- if you like wings and any type of dip, this is for you! It may not sound so appetizing but trusttttt me, it’s banging. Make it ASAP for a crowd pleaser and it will be gone in no time.

buffalo-chicken-dip-1-570x380

2. Texas Trash Dip- My roommate made this for a Super Bowl party that we went to last year and it was sooo good. It’s like everything good about Mexican food in one dip. And if you put jalapenos on top, it’s even better!

_bean dip2DSC_0207

3. Strawberry Footballs- Since dip isn’t cute and girly, I had to add in something pretty! These chocolate covered strawberries are cute and delicious! No recipe but just grab some melted white chocolate and milk chocolate and go to town.

4. Cherry Beer Margaritas- And now a recipe for the ladies who may not enjoy four hours of your friends or boyfriend violently screaming Roll Tide or Go Irish. Rather than plain beer for the game, this cocktail looks way more exciting! So kick back, relax, and enjoy the game because it’s a long wait until next Fall.

Bonus!- If you want to go the extra mile, paint some football nails. These were too cute to pass up and with my huge addiction to nail polish, I might just be rocking these tomorrow night.
