All my friends know how obsessed I am with weddings.  Someday they think I will become a personal wedding planner.  I have several possible locations planned for my big day and constantly find myself daydreaming about the first dance, dress, and even  table settings.  This brings me to the movie “27 Dresses” starring James Marsden and Katherine Heigl.  Like Jane, played by Katherine Heigl, I love reading wedding announcements and live vicariously through them to compensate for my “single” life.  While I like to read the New York Times wedding column, my true obsession is the Vineyard Vines wedding blog.  Every Wednesday a new couple is featured.  Each post outlines how the couple met and details their Vineyard Vines inspired wedding. Weddings…Vineyard Vines…what’s not to love?  And maybe someday like Jane, I will find the right guy and be in the wedding announcements too!

How To: Final’s Survival Guide!

Our theme this week is most definitely final’s survival! For me, there are a lot of little things that help me to get everything done for finals. I like to plan ahead and make sure I have all of my things together so that I do not have to stress out at four in the morning the day before and having a crying breakdown (please tell me I’m not the only one). Anyways, here are a few tips on how to get through Finals.

1. Coffee- This gets me through life for reals. Without DD or Starbucks in my life, I don’t even know if I would wake up to get to my finals much less be able to pass. My suggestion is to start early and continue to refuel throughout the day. Nothing picks me up more than a cup of coffee mid-day.

2. Planner- Honestly, without my planner I would accomplish nothing. If something is not written in my planner, it does not get done. I am including a picture of my plans for this weekend so don’t judge my crazy ways!

3. Fun highlighters or pens- When you’re stuck in your room studying all day, it’s the little things that make you happy. I love to use my VB Highlighters to highlight my notes. But be careful, because you don’t want to wind up loving your highlighters so much that you go crazy and highlight everything on the page (not helpful trust me).

4. Snacks- It is important when you are settling in for a marathon study sesh that you have snacks accessible. I like to keep candy on my desk to keep me awake and alert. I always eat Sour Patch Watermelon’s because the sourness keeps me from falling asleep on my desk but eat whatever your heart desires!

5. Quiet place and a study buddy!- When studying, I find it super helpful to have someone there to motivate me. Even though we are both studying by ourselves, it is helpful to be able to look across the table and see that someone else is studying too. You should also find a quiet place to study because there are oh so many fun distractions (especially in college) that could quickly take you off of your studying path. Study Study Study!

Hey everyone!

I know that finals are now taking over our lives and leaving us with little to think about besides the books. I know I had a huge final today and a semester-long presentation this afternoon and this whole week I was locked away in the study rooms of my library just trying to push through it all.

Everyone knows studying is definitely not the most fun thing in the world, but many things can make it a little more enjoyable!

Also, I try to vary my study places. I really like the library, but sometimes it can just become too much of a social scene if you hang out in the coffee shop or see one too many friends stroll by your desk. My room also provides too many distractions, such as magazines, TV, books or my roommate. I enjoy the study room in my dorm for some quiet time because its barely ever being used! Also, during the day, I like to put on my headphones and sit in the quad or another grassy area and breathe the outside air to keep me balanced and relaxed.

As far as study breaks go, I’m all for those! Grab dinner with a friend and catch up, stop out for some frozen yogurt, hit the mall for an hour or two, go on a nice long run, sit by the water and collect your thoughts, phone home or call your mom, Skype with a friend from home, sit in the student center and chat with whoever you see, clean your room, start thinking about sweet summertime, watch a movie, read a chapter from a book, and during the weekend, have a good time with friends!

I hope all your exams are going phenomenally and I wish you all the best as you study and begin your summer vacation!

The finals crunch is upon us!

Here at my school, it’s the last week of classes.  And that means one thing…every hard assignment from the semester is due this week.  In the last two days, I’ve written two and a half research papers, and I still have one and a half more to go.  You could say that people are going a little crazy.  Thank goodness it’s Wednesday and the week is almost over!

I know that fashion is definitely the last thing on your mind when you’re cramming in all that work in preparation for finals, but I think it’s still important to look cute while sitting in the library, even though you may or may not be dying a little on the inside.  Obviously, comfort is key when it comes to finals week fashion.  I’ve put together a few looks that will keep you cozy, but also help you to look put together even when your mind is a little out of whack.  Also, I’m a firm believer in the “dress well, test well” philosophy, so hopefully these will help!

OOTD 4/20

Here is my OOTD for this gorgeous day full of nannying fun! I don’t have class on Fridays so I go straight to work and hang out all day. Anywayssss here are the details:

Sun Protection

Now that its April the weather has been in the 70s and 80s, which means that it is time to start wearing sunglasses.  While I am a huge fan of tortoise shell sunglasses, there still are a lot of other styles out there.  Some of the most popular styles now are aviators and wayfarers.  Traditional sunglasses have made a strong comeback. Some of my favorites are from RayBan, Lilly Pulitzer, and Kate Spade.

I definitely suggest that you invest in high quality sunglasses because they last forever and they offer great sun protection.  Now to prevent from losing them it is fun to wear croakies. Here are some options:

Easing into Swimsuit Season…

It’s coming and we can’t avoid it…that’s right swimsuit season! Whether it’s something you love or love to hate, summer is all about the bikini body and beach weather. But here at The Prep Crew, we don’t want to just toss you right into the jaws of the monster, so we will start with cover ups. They are safe and still allude to the fact that Summer is coming soon! Also just as a sidenote, I know we get some comments about the fact that we post expensive things a lot on the blog but let me just tell you, I am a Target girl and since I am in college and working and still trying to pay for books, I have a low budget to say the least haha! So here’s to summer: warm, preppy, and budget-friendly!

Okay so option one is from Target and comes in a million colors. I know for me, after being in the sun all day, I sometimes just want to throw something easy like this on. Plus, since it comes in so many colors, you can easily coordinate it with a Marley Lilly Hat!

These are definitely a little loud for wearing on a day to day basis but they are perfect for the beach! Throw on a navy tank top or tee and you are preppy and beach-ready in a snap. It’s a step up from norts while still being comfy and casual

This dress is a little pricier but I think it is really cute for both a cover up, and a casual dinner at the beach or pool! And navy and white stripes are any prepsters go to look for Summer.

I’m obsessed with this J. Crew tunic since I love all things polka-dotted and I think that it would be perfect for the beach with a book and a big hat!

And last but not least, when all else fails, pull out the Nike Tempo Norts and call it a day!

Hi everyone! My name is Caroline and I am SO excited to be the newest contributor for The Prep Crew! Thanks so much to Karoline, Laurie Beth, Megan, Chadsey and Katie for this wonderful opportunity..I’ve been following The Prep Crew since they first started!

I call New York City home, and I am now living in the beautiful South Carolina Low Country. I am currently a freshman at College of Charleston double majoring in Communications and Political Science with a minor in Spanish. On campus, I am the entertainment chair of Dance Marathon, a sister of Phi Mu (ΦΜ) sorority, an singles player on Club Tennis, a member of the Student Alumni Association (SAA) and I work as a student intern in the College of Charleston Athletics Communications Office! I also work in the summertime on the barrier islands of the South Carolina coast. I am way too obsessed with country music. I play golf and I love it more than anything in this world. I know the subway system like the back of my hand. I can rock high heels even though I am super tall, I love driving around aimlessly with the windows down, and my favorite holiday is by far St. Patrick’s Day. I have a slight obsession with college basketball and football, and Hootie and the Blowfish will always be the best band in the world. You can always find me cheering on my favorite sports team, tweeting about my crazy life, and laughing out loud to 30 Rock.  I monogram everything from scarves to totes to hairbands. My favorite colors are by far pink and green, very obvious from my wardrobe and my dorm room. The beach is my sanctuary and my TV is always set on SportsCenter.

Easter Best!

Not surprisingly, it ended up being a very preppy Easter at my house.  We went to Sunday mass dressed to the nine’s in our Easter best.  For today’s post, I thought it would be nice to feature my mom and brother’s outfits in a edition to my own!  Clearly we all went for the same spring-y navy and kelly green color palette, and I love the pop of pink in Walter’s tie and my mom’s jewelry.
