Relay for Life

According to, “In May 1985, Dr. Gordy Klatt walked and ran for 24 hours around a track in Tacoma, Washington, ultimately raising $27,000 to help the American Cancer Society fight the nation’s biggest health concern – cancer. A year later, 340 supporters joined the overnight event. Since those first steps, the Relay For Life movement has grown into a worldwide phenomenon, raising more than $4 billion to fight cancer” (

Relay for Life is an over night, community fundraising walk, taking taking place on a track. Fundraising teams are made, and they camp out around the track, with members on the team taking turns walking throughout the night. Activities, entertainment, and games make Relay for Life events fun and exciting!

It’s that ‘Relay’ time of year again! Are you part of a community that puts on a Relay for Life event? If so, what are you waiting for? Get a team together and start fundraising! All money raised goes  to benefit the American Cancer Society and supports the fight against Cancer.

I am very excited to participate in a Relay for Life event this Friday at Bridgewater State University. As a college community, (as of today) BSU has raised over $43,000 to support the American Cancer Society via a Relay for Life event!!! (Go Bears!)

Relay for Life ‘s theme color is purple; the purple ribbon is the universal sign designated to represent all Cancers. Add a couple purple accents and accessories to your wardrobe to help “paint your community purple”, and spread awareness about Relay for Life!

I ‘Relay’ for SarahBoczanowski and Cathy Brossi, two very important people to me, whose lives have been effected by Cancer. With individuals coming together, small communities will be able to make a huge impact on those suffering from Cancer, by spreading hope, awareness, and support to loved ones who need it, and honor to all survivors.

Why do you ‘Relay’?

XO, Christine

Monogram Love

Hello everyone!

I have recently gotten way too obsessed with monograms! Of course, when we were all younger, we had monogrammed things. But on my college campus, monograms have gotten to be extremely popular and you can find them on practically everything and anything! These are some of my favorite monogrammed items you can find!

1) I love love love wearing 3/4 zip pullovers on those chilly days in Charleston or just as a cute sweatshirt for going to the gym. This beautiful one from Sweet Tea Monogram is so cute, especially with the anchor and the brilliant colors!

2) I have seen so many girls rocking the monogram vest during these winter days here in Charleston! A vest can really spice up an outfit and the monogram makes it cute and personal! Marley Lilly makes a variety of colors and styles!

3) Marley Lilly does it again with this amazing Luxe Cross Body bag! I LOVE a good cross body, especially with a chain, because it can truly jazz up any going out outfit!

4) Monogram iPhone cases are all the rage now! It seems like everyone is personalizing how their phone looks! After scouring Etsy forever, I finally found a store Happy Rabitz that makes amazing Chevron print monogram cases in beautiful colors! I love it!

5) Monogram scarves can top off any outfit! I adore mine, but this chevron print in amazing colors really caught my eye! Check it out at SatinStitchDesigns!

6) Sweet Tea Monogram also makes koozies! Since moving down south, I have become a koozie fanatic and keep a collection of them! Not only are they cute, they serve a good purpose in keeping your drink cool and keeping it out of your hand! I love the seersucker prints with the big bright monogram!

Have you found any cute things to monogram lately?

Pop of Color: think pink!

There are so many ways to add fun pops of color into your wardrobe. My favorite way is usually with a fun sweater or shirt, but you can also let your accessories add spunk. Pink is one of my favorite colors and is definitely a mood-booster when you’re feeling a bit out of it. So, next time you’re feeling like you’re in a wardrobe rut–which is easy to do in the winter months!–think pink!

New Year = New Semester

Its about that time of year! All the holidays are over, you have just spent a relaxing month or so at home, and now its time to get ready to head back to campus! I personally love beginning a new semester. A whole new slew of classes, new and transfer students to befriend, getting back into the swing of clubs and sports, and of course, since its spring semester, beautiful weather to look forward to! Here are some of my new semester essentials!

C. Wonder Pink Nylon Easy Tote

I began class this past Wednesday and have fallen in love with using this amazing C. Wonder tote to carry my books around. It is the perfect size to hold your books and other essentials and is easy enough to throw over your shoulder and be on your way! Plus, my laptop fits in it perfectly! It has convenient pockets to store pens, chapstick and other quick, easy necessities. I got really tired of the traditional backpack last semester and this bag is practical and adorable! Plus, it can really dress up an outfit!

Lilly Pulitzer Planner

Being organized is key to starting out a successful semester! I am completely obsessed with my Lilly planner. It is the perfect size to fit in my purse or bag, and it has enough room to fit in all my assignments, appointments, meetings, phone numbers, and reminders! It really helps me stay organized, especially when running from the library to sorority chapter to Dance Marathon exec meetings! I can easily sort out what needs to be done for when, and time myself throughout the day! It even has room for to-do lists!

Lilly Pulitzer Tumbler

For me, coffee is a must for those early morning classes and while running around campus each day! This cute Lilly tumbler makes carrying my drinks cute and easy! You can put anything in here and it keeps it cold and has a straw for easy access!

iPhone Wristlet

These new iPhone wristlets are all the rage on my campus! They make carrying all your necessities, from money to IDs to credit cards to your iPhone, super easy and convenient by putting it all in one place that fits on your wrist! It doesn’t look bulky at all and the bright, cute colors and the leather make this a fashion staple. This accessory is amazing for going out, because it minimizes your bag drastically, as well as running around each day because you can easily find everything you need! They have so many different styles, colors, and brands of these, but these here have caught my eye!

Good luck to everyone starting your new semester!

You can find bracelets, necklaces, earrings and more in a variety of styles, colors and prices just about everywhere these days. I am a huge fan of, when it comes to dressing up, finding a simple, solid colored dress and accessorizing with really cool and bold statement jewels! 5) Francesca’s Gold Statement Bracelet

Francesca’s has always been a favorite go-to store for me when it comes to everything from jewelry to dresses to gifts! They have a huge selection of dresses and they organize them all in the store by color. Their jewelry table is massive and they are always changing their selection. Plus, everything is very decently priced and they always seem to be having a sale going on!

Bauble Bar is THE place to go for statement jewelry! You can find any style you wish on this site and their customer service people are so helpful! Check out their website to see all the styles and colors they offer-you will be overwhelmed at the selection!

Stella and Dot is another wonderful jewelry site. They have such beautiful jewels that you can dress any outfit up with. I love their holiday colored items to dress up my outfits for this coming holiday season!

Purrrfect leopard accessories

With Thanksgiving coming up next week, and Hanukkah, Christmas, and New Years sneaking right up behind it, you’re probably starting to put some effort into planning your holiday outfits. I’m a believer in keeping your look mostly simple but with great accessories. I don’t know why, but I’ve always been a big fan of leopard in the winter months. It’s a print that’s still fairly neutral, and really adds glamour to basic pieces. I’ve put together some cute (and inexpensive!!) accessories to add a luxe vibe to your holiday outfits.

1. Leopard-print flats are a seriously understated staple. I used to have a pair that I wore holes into. I was so sad when I had to part ways with them. They match more than you would think and have the added bonus of going with both black and brown! Loafers, Steve Madden, $24.99.

2. My mom has a scarf a lot like this one that makes her look like a movie star. It would go perfectly with your favorite wool coat or jacket to add an extra dash of class. This one has a strap in the back that you pull one end through so it always stays in place! Scarf, Forever 21, $15.80.

3. I am seriously in love with this vest. I don’t know what it is about faux-fur vests, but they are literally everywhere right now. This vest can be dressed down with jeans and a basic tee underneath or put over a dress for a more formal look. This would be the perfect thing to wear out to lunch with friends from home or to hit the bars in the night before Thanksgiving!  Vest, Forever 21, $32.80.

4. Mittens are pretty much my favorite winter accessory. Sure, they limit your ability to use your cellphone or apply lipstick, but they keep your hands toasty. I am a huge fan of this CrewCuts pair, they would match seamlessly with any coat! Mittens, CrewCuts, $34.50.

5. As a person with bangs, I am a headband addict. They are the perfect thing to tuck away stray hairs or keep my bangs out of my face when I haven’t had the chance to wash my hair. I also love how much personality they can add to an outfit. This one’s bow adds a preppy touch to the leopard. Headband, Forever 21, $4.80.

6. I’m not one to switch up my phone case all that much, but I know that there are people out there who like their case to match whatever they’re wearing. With a leopard case, it’s easy for your iPhone to make a fashion statement. Case, Kate Spade, $40.00.

What are your favorite ways to add pizazz to your winter wardrobe?

xoxo, Karoline

December Must-Haves (for guys!)

Last week, I posted the December must-haves list.  This blog focuses mainly on women’s preppy style, but there have been some guys asking for their own list too.  So, I created a list of some of the things every preppy guy should have in their closet this winter. (And, if you still need to do some last-minute shopping for your guy, here are some ideas!)

1. Italian Wool Plaid Scarf from Rugby. I love that the colors in this plaid are dark and rugged.  I personally love scarves on men, but I don’t think they wear them enough.  Guys, what’s with that?

2. Men’s Winter Authentic Original Boat Shoe from Sperry. I know that there are a lot of guys out there who hate having to retire their boat shoes come wintertime. After all, there’s nothing fun about frozen toes. But now, you can wear your Sperry’s year-round! These ones are lined with shearling, so you’ll be super-warm!

3. Soft-Wash slim fit gingham shirt from Banana Republic. Last week, a commenter asked me what one item was the guy equivalent of pearls…what would make him look more put-together and classic? My answer: the collared shirt. Casual, dressy, I swoon when I see boys in button-downs. Stick with solids and classic ginghams and plaids and you’re set!

4. Soft-Wash slim fit chest-pocket shirt from Banana Republic. I don’t know much about men’s shirts, but I do know that my dad swears by the ones at BR. They’re a classic fit and they last a fairly long time.

5. AE Plaid Workwear Flannel from American Eagle. Warm, stylish, colorful….there’s basically nothing wrong with flannel shirts.  I suggest stocking up in several colors.

6. Vintage cord in relaxed fit from J.Crew. I’ve already professed my love for J.Crew cords several times on this site, and I’m going to keep doing it till I’ve clothed the world in corduroy. Seriously…don’t ask questions, just go get a pair of cords. You’ll thank me later.

7. Moose Brigade University Tie from Rugby. Every guy needs a tie. It’s just one of those things that you have to have in your closet at all times. I like this one because it’s got a classic repp stripe, but it also has a fun moose print!

8. Men’s Bean Boots from L.L. Bean. These boots also made an appearance on the women’s list. There’s a reason they’ve been around for over 100 years, they work. These are the best boots out there for wintery fowl weather. Also, they’re guaranteed for LIFE, so if anything ever happens to yours, Bean will replace them. That’s a pretty sweet deal if you ask me.

Hey guys, is there anything I’m forgetting on the list?

xoxo, Karoline
