Hey y’all!

I hope you’re having a great week!  I apologize for not posting on TPC for the past few weeks!  Spring semester has been pure craziness and I’ve barely had a chance to breathe, let alone sit down and write a blog post.  Although things are still crazy, I needed to take a study break and I thought I would see how y’all were doing!

With finals quickly approaching (eeeeek!), I thought I would share a few tips to help you get through the last few weeks of the semester as stress-free as possible.  Unfortunately, I can’t take away all the stress, but I can help you to help yourself!

1. Make Lists
I’m pretty sure that all of the TPC girls are compulsive to-do list makers!  I know for certain that Katie and I are especially fond of daily lists on stickie notes inside of our agendas.  With that said, whether it’s a daily list outlining everything that needs to be done that night or a long-term to do list outlining due dates and test dates for the rest of the semester, make things as easy to read as possible.  Instead of having to hunt through all of your syllabi to find that due date, put them all in one place!

2. Take time a break!
As much homework or studying as you have to do, it can always wait a few minutes.  It’s actually a really good idea to set an alarm every 45-60 minutes so that you get up, take a walk, get a drink, and allow your brain a few minutes to relax.  After that break sometimes I start a different assignment, make my bed, put in a load of laundry, or do something other quick chore that needs to be done.  Then, when you go back to work your brain will be refreshed and you might even be able to study better!

3. SLEEP
I know finals week seems like an appealing time to pull a bunch of all-nighters, to take only short naps, and to ditch any kind of sleep schedule you may have once had.  I’m here to tell you that that is a terrible idea.  Well, I know y’all already knew that, but I thought I’d remind you!  I understand if you can’t get nine hours of sleep, but a solid six hours of sleep each night (or early morning…) is essential!

What are some of your tips to get through finals week and the end of the semester?

xoxo,
Rebecca

Study Playlist

Hey everyone!

I know the semester is winding down and finals will soon be upon us all! While finals are often a time of stress and pressure, music can help make everything better! Whether you listen to music to study or need music as an escape, I have made a playlist on Spotify of my favorite study/relaxing jams. With this music, I can tune out the world and focus on my studies or just close my eyes for a minute and take a quick break from all the work. Enjoy!

Study Study Study!

Hey everyone!

I know that finals are now taking over our lives and leaving us with little to think about besides the books. I know I had a huge final today and a semester-long presentation this afternoon and this whole week I was locked away in the study rooms of my library just trying to push through it all.

Everyone knows studying is definitely not the most fun thing in the world, but many things can make it a little more enjoyable!

Here’s my study playlist that I’ve been using to keep me focused and driven. Give it a listen and see for yourself! http://grooveshark.com/playlist/Prep+Crew/69917523

  • She is Love (Live) by Parachute
  • Eyes Open by Taylor Swift
  • Hot in Here by Rascal Flatts
  • Payphone by Maroon 5 and Wiz Khalifa
  • Springsteen by Eric Church
  • Starships by Nicki Minaj
  • The Champ by Nelly
  • All I Ever Wanted by Chuck Wicks
  • Black Balloon by Goo Goo Dolls
  • Slow Dancing in a Burning Room by John Mayer
  • Fader by Temper Trap
  • Omaha by Counting Crows
  • Storm Warning by Hunter Hayes
  • I Can’t Make You Love Me by Bon Iver
  • Eet by Regina Spektor
  • Breathe by Taylor Swift
  • You by Chris Young
  • Paradise by Coldplay

Also, I try to vary my study places. I really like the library, but sometimes it can just become too much of a social scene if you hang out in the coffee shop or see one too many friends stroll by your desk. My room also provides too many distractions, such as magazines, TV, books or my roommate. I enjoy the study room in my dorm for some quiet time because its barely ever being used! Also, during the day, I like to put on my headphones and sit in the quad or another grassy area and breathe the outside air to keep me balanced and relaxed.

As far as study breaks go, I’m all for those! Grab dinner with a friend and catch up, stop out for some frozen yogurt, hit the mall for an hour or two, go on a nice long run, sit by the water and collect your thoughts, phone home or call your mom, Skype with a friend from home, sit in the student center and chat with whoever you see, clean your room, start thinking about sweet summertime, watch a movie, read a chapter from a book, and during the weekend, have a good time with friends!

I hope all your exams are going phenomenally and I wish you all the best as you study and begin your summer vacation!

The finals crunch is upon us!

Here at my school, it’s the last week of classes.  And that means one thing…every hard assignment from the semester is due this week.  In the last two days, I’ve written two and a half research papers, and I still have one and a half more to go.  You could say that people are going a little crazy.  Thank goodness it’s Wednesday and the week is almost over!

I know that fashion is definitely the last thing on your mind when you’re cramming in all that work in preparation for finals, but I think it’s still important to look cute while sitting in the library, even though you may or may not be dying a little on the inside.  Obviously, comfort is key when it comes to finals week fashion.  I’ve put together a few looks that will keep you cozy, but also help you to look put together even when your mind is a little out of whack.  Also, I’m a firm believer in the “dress well, test well” philosophy, so hopefully these will help!

I hope these outfits give you some inspiration to look cute while you’re working hard studying! I’m definitely going to try to recreate them best as I can!

Good luck on finals!  Only a couple more weeks till summer!! 🙂
