Fourth of July OOTD!

Hey everyone,

One of my favorite holidays is coming up–the Fourth of July! I have always loved checking out fireworks and attending cook outs with friends and family to celebrate America’s birthday. This year I was very upset to find out that I’ll be spending the day time this Thursday, stuck inside, working… BUT! I won’t let that stop me from getting festive! Check out this red, white, and blue outfit I plan on wearing to work!

Favorite Flannels

There are three things that I absolutely love about flannel shirts. First of all, they are made of soft fabrics that keep you very warm. This makes flannel shirts the perfect staple to have on hand in your closet for the colder months of the fall and winter seasons. Secondly, flannel shirts come in a variety of styles; they can be found in almost every color, and the shirt may sport either a checkered, plaid, or even a gingham pattern, depending on the number of colors used in the design.  Thirdly, flannel tops are very versatile. Pair a flannel with some leggings to lounge around in, or layer one under a pull over sweater for a stylish look.

This trendy top will come in handy for the cold months ahead! Have you stocked up on any flannel shirts yet? Check out some of my favorite flannel finds below–

1. Republic $24

2. Intermix $128

3. Republic $24

4. Aubin and Wills $94

5. Woolrich $59

In the past, I’ve also found some cute flannel shirts at stores such as Target and American Eagle Outfitters.

Look cute–even while you sleep!

When I choose my outfit for the day, I am all about looking and feeling fashionable and put together….but who is to say that you can’t look cute 24/7?! That’s right, I am talking about pajamas! What you sleep in doesn’t have to be boring…there are so many different styles of pajamas and a lot of them come in fun, stylish patterns! Stay cozy in a few of my favorite finds this holiday season—

The Classic Pajama Set:

1. This pajama set is from Victoria’s Secret, it comes with a button down, long-sleeved top, and matching pants. This is the newest addition to my personal pajama collection, but if you are not a fan of the little white tigers, this set comes in 26 patterns to choose from! (Victoria’s Secret ‘Red Tolle’ — $50)

2. If you prefer to lounge in something light and sleek, try out this pajama set from Victoria’s Secret. The short-sleeved top and boxer-style shorts are made of silk and come in 4 different patterns. (Victoria’s Secret ‘Silk Boxer PJ’ — $98)

3.This pajama set from J.Crew is not only cute but it looks really comfortable too! The set includes pajama pants and a matching button down top. Plus, who doesn’t love JCrew’s Gingham pattern?! (J.Crew ‘Flannel Gingham –$85)

The Two-Piece Thermal:

1. & 2. With the colder winter weather moving in, maybe you are thinking of investing in some PJs that are sure to keep you nice and warm. I love both the stripes on the thermal set on the left and the solid simplicity of the thermal set on the right!

1. Nordstrom offers this comfy thermal set in 6 different patterns! (Nordstrom ‘Hue-Huetopia’ — $48)

2. The Gap‘s thermal set features a cute button detail on the top—love it! (Gap ‘Ribbed PJ Set’ — $50 )

Pajama Bottoms:

1. & 2. Who says you have to get a whole matching pajama set? Pajama bottoms are known for coming in a slew of styles, and materials. Choose a pair with your favorite cartoon or a fun pattern on it to show case your character! Pair them with a comfy tee-shirt or tank top and you’re ready to hit the bed!

1. I love the Gap’s pajama bottoms because they are light and comfy—perfect for sleeping in. Isn’t the plaid on this pair so cute?! (Gap ‘Poplin’– $35)

2. Here is another cute pajama bottom pattern I found from P.B. Teen. You can’t go wrong with polka dots! (P.B. Teen ‘Dottie’ -$39)

Yes, Even Dresses:

1. & 2. Some people prefer dresses as opposed to shorts or pants when they sleep! If you fall under that category, check out some of my favorite finds–

1. This Macys’  dress’ simplicity is what makes it so appealing. Looks like something great to lounge around in. (Macy’s ‘Jockey Sleep Shirt’ — $34)

2. I love the lace detail and the overall flow of this nightgown—very pretty. (Alexander Del Rossa ‘Pricilla – $30)

Sleepy Time Accessories:

1. Fuzzy Socks- Soft and warm microfiber socks can be found at a variety of stores or online! (Kaboodle — $2-$10)

2.Aromatherapy- Not technically an accessory you can wear…more like a handy size kick. I LOVE this calming hand lotion from Bath and Body Works–works so well and smells so nice! (Bath and Body Works ‘Sleep-Lavender Vanilla’ — $13)

3. Eye Mask- Keep annoying lights away by using an eye mask! This one, a  replica of the one Audrey Hepburn uses in ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ is super cute! (Mary Green ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s Sleep Mask’ — $32)

4. Robe- Robes are comfortable and are always good to have on hand! (Target –$25)

Fashion Challenge: 4th of July edition!

I already posted this on my own blog, but I thought it might be a good post for The Prep Crew, too!

On Tuesday, I’m heading down to Cape Cod to spend the fourth of July and the following weekend with Matt and his family. It’s going to be a week filled with baseball, fireworks, and the beach…three of America’s favorite pastimes!

I was making a packing list of things and clothes to bring last night when I got a really interesting idea. Since it’s the Fourth of July and since I looooove wearing red, white, and blue together (it’s one of my favorite color combos), wouldn’t it be fun to pack nothing but clothes that are those colors and mix and match? So that’s the plan. I’ve got plenty of items that are either red or navy blue, and I’ve got tons of white staples to pair them with. Basically I’m trying my best to make Betsy Ross proud. It’s going to be fun.

Here are some of the pieces I’ll be playing with–

It’s going to be a fun week!

Are you planning on going all out for “Independence Week”? It’s turning into a bit of a competition between me, my mom, and my sister! Leave your outfit ideas in the comments!

xoxo, Karoline
